“Since I was 4, I’ve held a microphone.
Since I was 8, I’ve played the piano.
Since I was 12, I’ve written songs.”
For the Nashville, TN-based (by way of Montgomery, AL) singer-songwriter, Anna Claire Loftis, it was always known that music was the path.
Now, her growing anthology—which includes Pity The People, Brevity, Sleepwalker and, In The Morning—has another addition. The one part literal, one part figurative, Motion Sick. Inspired by a childhood drive through the Oregon mountains where her family almost met their demise, the song is ultimately about her current-day struggles to make it as an artist in Nashville, and—despite the love she feels for her work—her innate longing for true rest.
Joined by Jackson Rohweder (guitar), Logan Pace (keys), Derek Pham (drums), Nate Johnson (bass), and Kirsten Boyd (background vocals), the track opens with a beautiful series of ambient piano chords underpinning AC’s gorgeous vocal timbre. An alt-pop ballad at its heart, superb production and performance credits unite with deeply personal writing to form something quite lovely…
“Can the world stop moving?
The clouds keep keeping me busy
Can my wounds stop bleeding?
I think my body’s been through it all
Why do I still feel dizzy?”
WHOSE LOVECHILD…?
Selena Gomez meets Lana Del Rey…
