This Bongo Boy series is on across 72+ terrestrial TV channels, with episodes also available to stream online – each collecting the best new music from award-winning independent artists across the globe.
Here’s what the latest episode has in store:
Scott McDonald kicks off this episode with his new track Kiss The Earth Goodbye, a hard rock hit merging classic rock tones with chugging heavy metal grooves and unstoppable riffs. Its stunning Pearl Jam vibe is topped with melodic vocals, laced with atmospheric synths, strings and psychedelic elements which twist the genres into one gut-punch of a creation.
Lyia Meta and Gigiwan’s collab single Slumber has been given a brand new remix, stealing Episode 8’s second position. It’s a breathtaking heavy metal ballad, gothic and operatic, crowned by vocals that will instantly give you chills. A central lyrical theme of darkness manifests in every crevice: its midnight symphonics interwoven with cutting distortions, ghostly choirs and a searing solo that sounds fresh out of the ‘80s.
Monique Grimme’s new single When A Butterfly Alights features next; the artist’s latest collab with Sapphire Star Studios. A flawlessly vintage atmosphere follows the winged beast through Grimme’s addictive melodies, world-building lyrics and metaphors. It’s impossible not to compare Monique’s music with Stevie Nicks, yet this new track feels masterfully authentic, from its enigmatic ballad ambience to the rare oddities tapestrying its sound.
My True Companion by Willow Layne steals a spot; the artist’s soft country song a welcome mix-up from this episode’s back-to-back run of rock hits. This soul-cleansing piece is soaked in a bright, calm mood, vocals dancing over a soundscape as relaxed as a secluded beach in summer. And if that’s not enough to sell you, this isn’t a simple love song: it’s a dog that’s stolen Willow’s heart, not a man, her lyrics dedicated to her favourite furry companion.
Dorian Sean’s Ameri’cans is about as all-American as it gets: a country song flocked with nationalistic pride and a story of nationwide perseverence. This short and uplifting track is all about recognising strength in your community, nurturing connection with others and respecting the freedom enjoyed. It’s a bit Trump-ish, a bit redneck, but if that’s your vibe, it’s an instant hit.
Pounding Pavements by STUDEO is up next; a dreamy pop/rock track with a retro edge. Electric pianos and drum machines let an old-school atmosphere blossom, before distorted guitar riffs and an Iron Maiden-style solo shake up the mix, the track almost verging on the gothic while STUDEO’s melodic vocals take centre-stage.
David Becker’s Gravitationally Bound ends the episode on a high note: an acoustic, bongo-laced soundscape ridged with clean riffs that take you star-walking through cloudless skies. This instrumental track keeps its melodies bright and ever-evolving, letting you place your own lyrics in its midst and form unique connections with its happy-go-lucky jazz-pop soundscape.
All in all, Episode 8 packs something for everyone – from headbang-worthy rock hits to heartmeltingly sentimental ballads. As always, this episode can be stamped: Highly recommended.
