The latest episode of Bongo Boy TV’s rock ‘n’ roll music show is here, featuring eight exciting new songs ripe for discovery this autumn. Marking the ninth episode of Bongo Boy TV’s fourteenth series, the brand new episode, titled “Fall Into Space,” gathers top music videos from independent, award-winning artists across the globe. And this latest episode truly hosts the cream of the crop!
Rock ‘n’ roll hit “He’s A Bad, Bad Man,” from Illinois duo The Ex-Bombers, opens Episode 9 with a bang – a feral heavy metal sound plucked from the 70s, glitzed with the supreme energy of glam rock. Dirty guitar tones groove against the Siouxsie Sioux-like delivery of the female vocalist (who doubles up as the band’s drummer!), circling catchy choruses that will stain your brain all day, and drive the party spirit higher than you could imagine
Meresha’s “Trouble” steals the second slot; an edgy pop music video shot with full cinematics, its sound bridging the gap between pop, alt rock, and dance. This bright yet ominously stripped-back electronic track almost feels as if Christina Aguilera took a walk on the dark side; its epic, smokey vocals shining against the hit’s bubbling atmosphere, which layers its lowkey grooves up with each passing song segment.
Stonks Bros’ new track “We Choose To Go To The Moon” strikes next – a high-energy club track with an absurdly animated music video that’s destined to send you back to the early 2010s synthpop era. Daft Punk-inspired vocals stud the hectic, futuristic soundscape in this experimental electronic hit, and while hardly any decipherable lyrics stand out from Stonks Bros’ whirlpool of sound, their conjured vibe is delectable, instrumentally exciting, and crafting the type of song that could wipe out the blues of any rainy day.
Scott McDonald switches up the mood with his soft country-rock ballad, “One Mistake I Can’t Repeat”; acoustic guitars capture a refreshing sound comparable to “Here Comes The Sun,” edged by Scott’s authentic Americana motifs and some truly soul-cleansing guitar licks. This is the type of song to blast, windows down, driving highways through the summer while melting into its rich lyrical meaning.
“Heartbeats” by The Winter Sounds swerves Episode 9 back into the realms of electronic pop. This emotive piece carries an Owl City vibe, its upbeat and sparkling atmospheres reimagined under The Winter Sounds’ striking originality as the band lays rich brass sections over its bubbling synth arpeggios and fast-paced beats. But beneath the manic electronicisms, elements of emo pop and rock surface with ghost-like melancholy, sadness mostly smothered by the upbeat vibe yet masterfully hinting at darker turns within the song’s boundless good spirits.
Matt LeGrand’s new single “All Good” takes the episode’s sixth spot; a summer beach music video sporting a pop/rap groove that could easily top the Billboard chart. The song’s optimistic message permeates through each element of Matt’s sound: fresh R&B-inspired vocals comparable to mid-era Justin Bieber hits, backed by a clean soundscape equally fit for dancing, stereo-blasting, and pimping out your gym playlist.
Van Gordon Martin’s nostalgically animated music video for “Let It Grow” steals the spotlight next; a crisp and zesty reggae tune that’s bound to melt listeners into its late-summer bliss, paired with a luminous lyrical message of tranquil aspiration and belief. It’s everything you need from a fresh reggae release: flawless vibes, optimistic grooves, and a blessed sense of unbreakable hope.
Closing Episode 9, LBM’s “Stranded” brings the teen vibe back home; another chart-like pop/R&B track with an unstoppable vibe, laid against a hypnotically simple beat and harmonic groove. This track captures its lyrical break-up mood perfectly: its cyclical sound manifesting the feeling of being “Stranded” in heartbreak, seeking exits which only lead back to the memories you’re desperately trying to escape. It’s shockingly artful for its genre, and just as addictive to listen to.
