Back in July ’17, we reviewed Frank Migliorelli & The Dirt Nappers’ entertaining album, Bass, Drums, Guitars & Organs, which we shamelessly called, “…a collection of songs which are light in spirit, and go easy like a cool, welcome breeze.”
“…a throwback Memphis soul feel—not even sure how I wrote it…”
—Frank Migliorelli
After a few personnel changes, Frank and company are preparing to unleash their third studio album, The Things You Left Behind, for which they recently released the lead-off single, the oh-so-lovely, She Moves Like A Mystery.
With the no less magic than we are used to getting from this band of music-smiths; a smooth organ backs fundamental guitar chords, simple vocal harmonies, and a lovely little solo at the two-minute mark. All of which gently support a simple tale of one man’s attempt to decode the mystery known as love…
“She moves like a mystery to places I can’t find
Lipstick traces and fingerprints is what she leaves behind
She disappears in the shadows to places I can’t see
She moves like a mystery, a mystery to me…”
WHOSE LOVECHILD…?
Petty meets Orbison…
