It’s a hard push to find a more prolific producer than Chuck Moyer. If you’re thinking that it’s only been a matter of weeks since we wrote about his In the Mood EP, you are not mistaken. G Clef Fusion is back and embracing the holiday spirit with A Fusion Christmas, a 5-song EP that reimagines some familiar, festive tracks in the artful manner of Moyer’s that we’ve become accustomed to.
O Christmas Tree gets a funky makeover straight off the bat. An organ takes care of the melodic duties while an energetic bassline and nice offbeat snare hits give this number a charged-up groove.
Moyer takes great artistic liberty with the tune of Silent Night. Eschewing the song’s familiar waltz meter, the drums carve out a funky rhythm in 4/4 time while the organ and synth rephrase the melody so that it is barely recognizable.
If you’re looking for something a little bit different these holidays then look no further. G Clef Fusion gives your typical Christmas playlist a real makeover and will make you appreciate these old favorites all over again.
