We are well acquainted with G Clef Fusion’s wonderful keyboard compositions by now. Chuck Moyer has been releasing EPs prolifically as part of a series called Experiments and Explorations. We reviewed the last installment, You Heard Right, a few weeks ago, and the project was a lovely reimagining of famous classical pieces. Chuck’s latest EP, and number five in the series, is called In the Mood and the concept behind it is to provide an ambient background soundscape to the listener’s daily movements and thoughts.
Happy Salubrious Stroll plays out just as the title suggests. It’s bright and carefree and conjures up summery images. The drum and organ parts work really well and the track has a real London circa 1966 vibe.
Calm Sunset Chill is an extremely tranquil piece and features beautiful layers of synth and piano. There is a nice melody running through it and its use of suspended chords gives it an open, introspective air.
Moyer has nailed it with this G Clef Fusion release. The tracks of In The Mood are suitably sparse and non-confrontational, yet they have enough substance that the mind may wander off on a tangent to their serene vibrations – if the listener so chooses!
