New York-based group Live Vinyl is based firmly in a fusion of genres. Blending pop, R&B and rock sounds from the 1960s through the new millennium, the band is set to release their debut EP Living in the 2020′s early this year.
Comprised of Grace Nazario (vocals), Peter Mormoris (guitar, production), David Karp (vocal harp), Joe D’Agostino (bass), Ronnie DiRusso (vocal keys), Michael Felice (drums), and Jon Paul Montavlo (percussion), this talented group was founded by Mormoris in 2017, with the lineup being fully auditioned and vetted before the band’s official creation. Live Vinyl has most recently released a single titled Get Out Party Today, and this catchy number is a great showing of skill and energy from the group.
Featuring a sultry, samba-esque beat mixed with definitive pop-rock guitar stylings, Get Out Party Today is smooth and inviting from the first measures. The varied layers of percussion and complex rhythmic components show production skill, and the incredibly tasteful guitar solos are expertly executed and feature the perfect tone to accentuate this track’s rock influence.
The vocal stylings of Nazario are a high point of this single. Powerful and smoky, her voice brings character and nuance to a track full of easily-digestible lyrics (as one would expect in a track designed to get people dancing!) But the vocals here add a layer of authenticity to this fun tune – this is more than just your run-of-the-mill pop/rock number. Nazario adds the ever-welcome component of soul to the mix.
Live Vinyl has cemented their upcoming EP as something to watch for in the new year with this single. Get Out Party Today is inviting and full of energy, while still maintaining clear influence from their core blend of genres. We have a feeling this group puts on a great live show – if you’re in the NYC or Long Island area, keep an eye out for them in 2021. Until then, be sure to take a listen to this vivacious single, warm up your dancing shoes, and get ready for Living in the 2020′s coming this January.
