Little is known about the collaborative rock band based out of Nanakuli, Hawaii known as MDMP. What we do know, however, is that for the past few years, they’ve been releasing a series of well-made, substantive rock singles which all seem to hit an emotive chord with listeners.
“This is my attempt to capture your ear for just a moment in your life. Music is a reflection of everything we have experienced in life. I hope you enjoy a part of life with me.”
These singles include 2018’s Coffee and Bowl Cut, 2019’s Path To Nowhere and Black Label, all serving as preludes to this year’s first release, the angsty plea for the world to wake up, pay attention, and, Learn
A distorted bass-line and high-hat open with an urgent intensity. Distorted, ambient electric guitar chords and a full-on electronic rhythm join the mix. Layers of psychedelic vocals bring the track fully upright. At 2:25, EJ King spits his bars as the high-hat doubles, and suddenly, we are in the midst of an alt-psych-industrial-hip-hop convergence.
The message is fateful—though objective. Dramatic—but serious. Will we check our egos? Will we act with character? Will we ever, Learn? Check out the video below.
