KerKeri, New Zealand-native rock legend, Merv Pinny has earned a US audience.
It all began when he started playing his first guitar—which he bought from his brother for $10. By age 15, he’d quit school to work by day as a farmer—and jam all night long as a budding rock-star. He’s played in countless venues in front of thousands. He’s won awards, and been nominated for others. And all of this has been made possible…because his music hauls.
Previous work includes 1995’s Destiny which was nominated as the best country rock album of the year at the 1995 New Zealand music awards.
Oh, and by the way, he also does charity work. Here’s the deal: Pinny has decided to record three singles—the first of these was, O.B (Can You Hear the Children Cry)—the profits of which go to children in crises. His latest single, Wipe Out, is the second in that series.
“I just love to play for people who rock!”
—Merv Pinny
An edgy, grimy rock cut, with definite metal overtones, screaming vocals, screeching guitar riffs, and pounding percussion all set the table for Merv’s latest protest piece. Says Pinny about the song, “Wipe Out takes the viewpoint of a refugee and gives voice to the feelings of frustration rising from being displaced, separated from his family and trying to adapt to a new life.”
It’s worth repeating: Merv Pinny has earned a US audience.
Whose lovechild…?
