Massachusetts-based pop artist Milovay is back with a brand new EP – MILO – the artist’s second EP of the year, following his eponymous four-track release in February 2026. Milovay sticks to his mould for this latest release, packing another four tracks into a short and snappy 10 minute run-time, crafting a perfect quick-fix for pop, rap and reggae fans with a lunch break to fill, or a short walk to soundtrack.
Album-opener “BOOMSTICK” is the type of chart-topping summer anthem you hear blasting from car stereos across the city and suburbs; its dance-worthy beats ringing with an infectious urge to get up and groove, its artfully abrasive vocal production instantly snatching attention as Milovay crafts an authentic sound you can pick out from a mile away – an impossible task in such an oversaturated genre as his.
Reggae rhythms undertone Milovay’s bright vibes as janky piano rhythms mingle with trap/hip hop percussion, topped by vocals treading a fine line between rap and melody. Synths bubble with R&B twists, slatherings of autotune slot Miloway’s sound amongst the pop/rap greats, while emotional edges are revealed in the least likely places.
Two of Milovay’s recent singles feature on the EP: “Does She Know?” and “MyT.U.R.N.” – two back-to-back tracks which feel like an evolution of each other, from the former’s sunny-skied radio jam to the latter’s late-night club energy. “MyT.U.R.N.” especially is a stand-out addition, Milovay’s raps running at lightning speed before a sub bass chorus emanates the likes of Drake, Rihanna and more.
Closing track, “Like Drums, Hear the DaDaDa” cements the aesthetic, sprinkling ‘80s inspired synths in its mix, whilst rounding off the EP with a self-assured, consistent sound that proves Milovay is at the top of his game. This is an artist who knows who he is, the game he’s playing and what his audience wants, and Milovay delivers it perfectly.
Haters could slate MILO’s predictable nature, but this predictability is exactly what makes it so great. Listeners know what vibe they’re in for from the very first track, able to let loose without the threat of wild experimentalism, or being thrown overboard by art-nerd innovations that could shatter the wave they’re riding. All this leaves us with one final verdict: Highly recommended.
