Mister Green is the brand-new collaboration between singer-songwriter, Andrew Lindner, and producer/co-writer, Mark Renk. Their debut album, Stay Tuned, is a delightful celebration of Americana music, fusing together the sounds of country, folk, and rock with some classic, lyrical storytelling. The songwriting demonstrates a strong focus on melody, and the duo engaged an impressive roster of session musicians to polish off the tracks.
Mister Green had some radio and chart success with their single, Annabelle, which features none other than Tom Morello on lead guitar duties, and serves as the album’s opener. Wry, observational lyrics provide a humorous counterpoint to the catchy, pop-sensibilities of the chorus, and the sprinkling in of some Beatles-esque harmonies is a nice touch. There’s plenty of country twang in tracks Small Town Pretender and Got A Lot, with Renk’s vocals again striking a nice balance between sincerity and wit.
The production quality of Stay Tuned is incredible and the songs really feel at home together on this album. There’s definitely a track or two for everyone on here; it’s a really palatable release that should get listeners fired up for what Mister Green have in store next.
