Newly emerging onto the modern rock scene is five-piece Pretty Blackmore. Comprised of Minx (lead vocals), Ray Session (guitar), Arielle Moiré-Selvage (co-vocals), Marquise Ivra (drums), and Ian Shea (bass), the group has recently announced the release of their debut EP The Awakening, premiering later this year. From that EP comes the single You Didn’t Call, a powerful, electric rock number that introduces us to the band’s extensive capabilities with vigor.
Hard-hitting and electric from its first measures, You Didn’t Call is a remarkable showing of both technical musical skill and undeniable chemistry. The intricacies and rapid-fire pace of the electric guitar are present throughout the entire track, and serve just as much as a driving force as the dynamic rhythm section (but definitely don’t miss the impressive guitar solo at 3:16). While the foundation of this track is undeniably set in the modern rock genre, elements of punk and true hard rock can be seen as well, guaranteeing that this single will resonate with a variety of audiences.
A clear highlight of this track is the vocal performance from Minx. She’s reportedly been called “a force of nature“, and after hearing her performance on this single we think you’ll likely agree. Her voice is authoritative and impassioned, bringing true authenticity into this track and maintaining the spotlight throughout.
For those looking for a fresh and energetic group making waves in the rock genre to get excited about, Pretty Blackmore checks all the boxes and then some. This vibrant, firey performance in You Didn’t Call sets the bar high for their upcoming EP, but based on this track alone we’d be willing to bet that they deliver beyond expectation.
