Memphis artist Scooter Tha Best is back with a brand new album – Tha Unreleased Pack 2 – featuring 15 quickfire rap/trap/hip-hop hits ready to send out your summer with style.
Scooter kicks off his latest record with Please Don’t Tell It, laying trap beats beneath an eerie synth melody with a villainous, supense-driven edge, all topped by an authentic and addictive underground feel. Then, dipping into the realm where rap meets radio pop, Datt Dude unleashes its hypnotic flows against a polar opposite vibe.
As a songwriter, Scooter spreads tentacles into the many crevices of his genre, weaving a treasure trove of rap influences into his sound. Yet, this record is glazed with consistency, self-affirmed and ready to blow tsunami waves through the competition.
Naturally solid vocals are re-styled with hefty autotune, but this hardly diminishes the artistry powering Scooter’s latest drop. It’s a stylistic choice with a phenomenal effect, instantly placing Scooter in league with the greats such as Drake. Elsewhere, Scooter carves emotional depth into his genre through his rich soundscapes topped with revealing lyrics which make you think.
Is it worth listening to?
