Feeling like getting down and dirty with a drink in your hand? We’ve got just the song for that. The Barbeque Band has recently released their debut album The Better Side Of Bad Behaviour, and their single Bottles is an unabashedly fun Americana number that’ll get you tossing back one too many with a smile on your face.
The Barbeque Band is – quite surprisingly – based in the UK. After listening to this track, it’s pretty hard to believe this music isn’t coming out of Texas or Tennessee. It’s authentic boot-stomping, hand-clapping gritty and soulful music that fits right in with all the current trends in Americana.
The track is well defined by tasty acoustic guitar licks, swampy rhythms, and really tight harmonies. The lead vocals (which are a high point of this track) are firmly based in rock and roll, but all the instrumentation says genuine acoustic country. In most modern country-rock the opposite is true, and it’s interesting and refreshing to see the reverse working so well. We also love the inclusion of the harmonica – it takes that country twang just one step further.
The lyrics are fun and lighthearted, and the hook is truly infectious – something you can sing along to after hearing it once. Plus, the great build up to each chorus makes it easy to figure out the right time to yell “break out another bottle“.
Bottles is the kind of song you can cut loose too. Let The Barbeque Band kick off your next night out (or in) with this track – you’ll be in a dancing mood in no time.
