“Lo-fi rock from a North Dallas garage.”
With the immediate needs of school and his family well behind him, in 2013 The Professor figured it was high time for his return to the Texas punk scene since his 80’s heydays long ago.
“…like a black sheep branch of the Osmond Family…”
With time, patience, and hundreds of gigs, the current iteration of the band, The Prof. Fuzz 63, is Professor Fuzz (guitars, vocals), Sleepy Redhead (keys, vocals), Mr. B (drums). And while membership has varied over the years, they’ve still managed to produce an impressive anthology of original music which includes projects such as Chinese Folk Songs, Glitter & Fuzz Live!, Panda Attack, and others.
“The old Taiwanese gentleman wearing a pink sweatshirt emblazoned with the words ‘CHOCOLATE JESUS’ was the first fan of the song. A sign from the Buddha that it was on the right track.”
A prelude to their forthcoming album, Owls, this unapologetically raucous trio has released their latest single, Nadine Codeine.
One part garage, one part grunge, and one part 70’s-style psychedelic, the hypnotic nature of the melody instantly vibrates on chill as guitars, organ, bass and drums all follow the same melodic twist. This minimalist sound seems to enhance The Prof’s dry, Sid Hagan-like vocal timbre, creating a unique take on the genre. Check out the video for Nadine Codeine below.
