Multi-instrumentalist and up-and-coming artist Todd Barrow is solidifying himself as a force in the country music scene. He’s received a PRSA Award of Excellence, an Akademia Award for Best Country Album, and an artist spotlight in Alternative Roots Magazine, American Pride Magazine, and AVA Radio, and has appeared on Good Morning Texas with Jerry Matheny and Texas Music Café on PBS. This sets a high bar for his work, but his most recent release, a single titled Gonna Drive, embodies everything there is to love about a quintessential modern country track.
Gonna Drive hits on many of country music’s favorite topics – whiskey, patriotism, dive bars, and long drives down country roads. Each line is a hearty dose of down-home nostalgia. Driven by electric guitars and Barrow’s warm and twangy vocals, this song is an absolute earworm, with a memorable rhythm and a hook that’s just repetitive enough to make its way into the back of your mind for the long haul. Catchy, familiar, lighthearted, and fun – this song is the whole package.
The modern country music scene is crowded, but well-crafted, relatable songs like Gonna Drive will always be the cream that rises to the top. Todd Barrow is well on his way to staking his claim in the country music world, and we’d be willing to bet that this is one artist name you’ll be hearing again and again.
