It’s been another incredible year for indie-music. That said, we at The Ark of Music would like to offer our most heartfelt thanks to all of the artists out there. Those we reviewed and those we did not. Those who’ve completed their latest work, and those who still dream of recording it. All of you.
It seems every year that goes by there are more and more reasons placed before all of us to not make our art. There are more and more reasons than ever before to bicker, posture, and argue amongst ourselves. It seems that some would have the beauty sucked from the face of the Earth if they had it their way.
But oh, what a fruitless and victory-less struggle that is.
For you and I know a secret. We know that freedom’s first, last, and only respite dwells within art. That universal truth makes us proud to offer the art of music to the world. It makes us proud, and incalculably grateful to be a part of the indie-music movement, where truth’s expression will always be welcome no matter what the political, financial, social, religious, or civil circumstances may be “out there”. Here, is our sonic respite.
Below, please take a moment to explore our Top 10 Albums of 2019. Thank you again to all of the artists on this list as well as those who are not. Your music is a gift. And, as we say goodbye to another year, let’s really try to be good to each other in 2020.
Yours in music,
—Noah James Hittner & The Ark of Music team
