Paris-based producer Vivien Cheymol is known for making beats for artists worldwide. Currently, he has two albums out under the name Orange Dolla Fox. For his latest release, Cheymol is looking to feature his love of UK Garage. Together with artists K.J. and MagnumOneFive, he’s released the two-track EP Excuse My French.
Excuse My French has all of the classic hallmarks of the UKG sound, and Cheymol’s love for the genre is immediately apparent. There’s a clear understanding of the classic genre standards, but with Cheymol’s own modern twist as a constant presence. Loving You has a particularly enjoyable bright and upbeat energy, with a sharp use of attention-grabbing vocal effects that play nicely against the rap verses.
That’s The Garage has a darker, harder-hitting sound, with a heavy emphasis on rap from artist K.J. It’s tight, explosive, and immersive, a clear showing of production skills from Cheymol and an excellent example of his work within the genre at hand.
For fans of UK Garage, look no further – Vivien Cheymol is creating a stellar blend of original and fresh UKG sounds that will surely satisfy you on Excuse My French. Stream this well-executed project for yourself below.
