Christin Wenzel is a German singer/songwriter who self-produces her own indie pop/rock music. She was inspired by the concept of the bedroom producer thanks to the lockdowns that the pandemic gave us, and the result is her debut full-length album, Nightworks.
The album has an introspective tone but Christin’s lyrics, all sung in English, have a universal quality to them. She invites the listener to find meaning in their own life experiences by using her music as a vessel. There is no better example of this than the opening track, ‘Your Song’, where to the listener she insists “This is your song, so come on, sing along”.
As Christin says, “I want to make people happy with my music”, and all of the songs on this album do have a wonderfully inspirational message. In ‘True Friends’ she espouses the importance of human connection and hanging on to those whom we hold dear.
‘Little Girl’ is another real highlight and it sees Wenzel reminisce about her beginnings as a singer and receiving her first guitar as a gift from her mother.
Nightworks is a collection of splendid, catchy pop tunes and is the perfect album to put on when one is in need of a little pick-me-up.
