Wisconsin native Pollux King started developing her musical roots at the age of only four. At eighteen, she moved to LA and studied at The American Musical and Dramatic Academy. In the time since her graduation, she’s created a self-titled, genre-defying EP with producer Chris Kooreman (Dope Dragunz). Today we’re taking a closer look at one of the tracks from her most recent work, the powerful and moving ballad Anybody.
“The world is changing. We’re speaking up. We’re done being quiet about the pain people have put us through. This song is for the freaks. For the weirdos. For the people who never fit in. This song is for you.” – Pollux King
Anybody is the dynamic alt-pop production of Hozier meeting the powerhouse vocals and soulful inflection of Sia. King’s voice is the unabashed star of this evocative track, a perfect blend of intensity and delicacy that will send chills down your spine at its softest moments and spark a fire in your soul at its peak.
King’s vocals would no doubt shine on any track, but as an added bonus Anybody is an incredibly well-crafted tune from every angle. A blend of modern rhythms serve as a perfect backing to a fresh but familiar melody. The message within this track is heartfelt and honest, decrying societal expectations and unifying those on the fringe through an understanding of suffering. It’s raw, relatable, and a genuine display of emotion that can only come from real-life experience.
Pollux King has instantly solidified herself as an artist to watch with Anybody. Full of unbridled passion but with vulnerability at its core, this single is a battle cry from the heart that will resonate with even the stoniest of audiences. The sky is the limit for King if she continues to create stunning, impactful work of this caliber. But don’t take our word for it – listen to Anybody below and feel the strength and authenticity of this track for yourself.
