Creating music since 2016, the Asbury Park, New Jersey-based four-piece alt/indie-rock outfit, The Brothers Union, consists of two sets of brothers: Mike O’Reilly (guitar, vocals) and Sean O’Reilly (bass, vocals), and Alec Wagstaff (drums) and Jon Wagstaff (guitar).
In 2018, these fellas released two highly enjoyable electric-rock-style EPs: Little Blue Room and Paper Hearts. (Definitely check them out.) Now, taking a left turn into a temporary acoustic oasis, they’ve released the 2-track, Silhouettes, a love-infused ride of gentle, melodic chords, and vocal harmonies. We particularly enjoy its second track, Another Remedy.
Just a touch of reverb and digital delay go along away, as the brothers strum and sing about love, or perhaps heartache, or perhaps immortality, or perhaps, all of it…
“I don’t wanna be one of those
That don’t believe
And even when the worst is yet to come
I’ll be
Holding onto ghosts
I don’t wanna be like that
And even when the sun comes falling down
I’ll be…”
This music is worth exploring as these four brothers know exactly how to use their fine sense of melody to create substantive, emotive rock music—electric or acoustic.
WHOSE LOVECHILD…?
Storyhill meets The Shins…
