We’re back with another stellar Bongo Boy Records compilation in an all-new genre. Bongo Boy Records does a phenomenal job of finding and elevating indie talent, and this latest album is no exception. Consecration Revival, Vol. II is a collection of vibrant, energetic Christian music that shuns outdated genre assumptions, shining a positive, well-deserved light onto some of the industry’s brighest up-and-coming Christian groups.
The opening track, Comin To Take Me Home by The “L&M Project Band” sets the tone for this entire collection. Bluesy, soulful, and just a little funky – this is a high-energy, foot stomping good time complete with a rich choir of backing vocals. Gypsy Carns’ Praise Our Heavenly Father keeps things rocking, leaning in an alt-rock direction with a satisfying growl in the vocals.
One of the most stand-out tracks on this album comes early at number three – Be My Rock by 42nd St Singers feat. Pete Bronkie. This track has a warm, inviting pop rock sound and an endlessly catchy chorus. The vocals in this track are bright and powerful, the rhythm is driving, the songwriting is wholesome and uplifting. It’s the whole package- everything one could ask for in a modern Christian track.
Ann M. Wolf‘s track Dangerous slows things down a bit, with an infusion of heavy strings and her smoky, rich voice. This is followed by the equally moving ballad You Live In Me by Clark Ford and Underground Treehouse feat. Kiley Hester. Hester’s vocals are so clear, strong, and passionate; guaranteed to send chills down your spine.
Love Will Rise by Sister Shelley has a hearty dose of folky, Americana twang throughout. With a bouncy, western-inspired rhythm and some beautiful harmonies, this is another stand-out on this already impressive collection of music. Red Light and Blue by Tina Sisay is another notable track, opening as a deep and evoactive somber piano track and building into the ultimate power ballad, complete with Sisay’s show stopping, powerhouse vocals. We also love Thanking God For You by Mia Moravis for its soaring melodies, and God Bless You by Raymond Materick for its infectious, classic rock energy.
A great showing of vocal skill across the board, dynamic songwriting abilities, and a fearless dedication to their faith and craft – this collection is a true testament to the versatility and growth that can be found in the religious music genre. Consecration Revival, Vol. II truly is a little bit of everything, with artists in multiple genres, soft ballads to driving rock, and classic, throwback sounds to truly modern music. Let go of any preconcieved notions you might have about Christian music, and come enjoy the awe-inspiring collection of talent that Bongo Boy Records has put together.
